  1. So,so sad to lose such a great singer and entertainer. The two Bevs were/are his among greatest fans. We are going to miss him terribly, what a loss to SA music. Loved you Dave

Condolences to his family from us both

  2. I am very sad to hear this, Hawk is still my all-time favourite band. I was lucky enough to see them live in 1973 at the (then !)Green Point Stadium, and meet Dave a few years ago – I still have his cd which he then gave to me. Sympathies to his family and friends.

  3. Very sad news indeed. My dad has told me much about Dave Ornellas, Hawk and their music and played their awesome music to me.

The South African music scene and family loses a great one but he has left his mark in it’s history.

    Condolencesto his loved ones.

  4. i didn’t know anything about Hawk until a couple months ago. i’m friends with one of his daughters and she playing at an open mic night and he came along and sang with her and played some songs and he blew me away. such a powerful voice.

i’m glad i got to see him even that one time.

  5. I was privileged to know Dave for 18 years. He will be missed and fondly remembered. A good man.

  6. I still remember the battle of the bands in Bloemfontein, 1970’s. Dave Spook Les Goode!

  7. Hawk came to Benoni in 1972 and turned this place upside down and i loved it. During the 90’s Dave came to sing in our church and this time Benoni was turned back up again. Been a fan of Hawk and Dave from the very first time i heard. It was a sad day for Music and especially Gospel Music.

  8. once upon a time there was a garden.. the garden grew…
